目を閉じたまま実家へ続く道を歩いている。
なにしろ決まりきった道筋だ。
背後から子どもらの声がする。
発音からして中国人だろう。
薄目を開けて見ると
小さな自転車に乗った男の子がふたり
足もとを追い越してゆくところだった。
また目を閉じて進む。
しばらくしてから再び薄目を開ける。
ひとりの男の子が歩道に倒れていた。
顔を舗装道路に突っ伏して水を吐き出した感じ。
あやうく踏みつぶしそうになった。
なんだ？ どうしたのだ？
さらに先には別の男の子が仰向けに寝転んでいた。
そして、そのままもぞもぞ移動して側溝に落ちた。
浅く水が流れる側溝の底に後頭部をぶつけた音。
それから頭をさすりながら起き上がった。
やれやれ。
おまえら、おれにどうしろというのだ？
Fell into a Gutter
I am walking on the road leading
to my parents' house with my eyes closed.
After all, it's a fixed path.
Children's voices are heard from behind.
From the pronunciation, they are Chinese.
When I opened my eyes, I saw two boys
riding a small bicycle overtaking my feet.
I close my eyes again and proceed.
After a while, I open my eyes again.
A boy was lying on the sidewalk.
It feels like he slumped his face down
on a paved road and spit out water.
I almost trampled him.

Further ahead, another boy was lying on his back.
Then he crawled and fell into the gutter.
The sound of his back of his head hitting
the bottom of a gutter with shallow water flow.
Then he got up, rubbing his head.
Good grief.
