虫の好きな私のために兄が作ってくれた。
それを坊ちゃんが壊してしまった。
あの坊ちゃんの目が忘れられない。
血走って、奥まで暗くて、恐ろしげな眼。
坊ちゃんが私を憎んでいるのは知っていた。
私が坊ちゃんより虫を愛しているから。
私が坊ちゃんを愛していないから。
虫籠を踏み潰された夜、私は泣いた。
虫たちが可哀想だったからではない。
虫籠が壊れてしまったからでもなかった。
わかってしまって、悲しかったのだ。
こんな、みなし児で愚かな私も
あんな、金持ちで賢い坊ちゃんも
みんな、虫籠の虫なんだ、と。
