枕もとに揺れる蝋燭の明かりを頼りに
女は熱心に本を読み続けている。
「なにを読んでいるの？」

知らない書名だった。
どんな内容なのか尋ねてみたいが
質問ばかりしていると嫌われそうだ。
それに、書名ではないのかもしれない。
ため息をつき、仰向けになる。
見上げると、天井がない。
真っ暗な夜空。
真上に浮かぶ丸い月。
