いつの間にか年を取ってしまい
家族も友人も親しい知人もいなくなってしまった。
ひとりで寂しいような気もするな、と思っていたら
とうとう飼い猫が喋り出した。
「おいらが話し相手になってやるよ」
おやおや、これはいけない、と思った。
記憶力が弱まり、月日のたつのが早まり
年相応に呆けたな、とは自覚していたのだが
猫の喋る声が聞こえるようになってしまっては
もう救いようのない末期症状である。
「あんた、なにか言いたいことがあるんだろ？」
猫が尋ねる。
言いたいことがあったような気もするが
なかなか思い出せない。
考えてみると、この猫の名前さえ思い出せない。
「まあ、まだ慣れなくて
適当な言葉も浮かばないのだろうけどよ」
猫は向こうの部屋へ行ってしまった。
それからしばらくの間
わしは猫に話しかけるための適当な言葉を考え続けた。
やがて猫は戻ってきた。
わしは猫に尋ねてみた。
「向こうの部屋には、なにがあったっけ？」
「あんたの体」
猫はあくびをした。
「まだ辛うじて生きてるよ」
「ゆっくり生きる」haruさんが動画にしてくださった！
元「koebu」さなさんが演じてくださった！
Interlocutor
I was old for a while,
my family, friends and close acquaintances were gone.
When I thought that I felt lonely alone,
my cat at last started talking.
"I'll be your interlocutor."
Oh, I thought this was not good.
I was aware that my memory was weak,
time passed quickly,
and I was blurred according to my age,
but if I could hear the roar of the cat,
I would be a terminal condition
that would not be salvageable anymore.
"Aren't you something you want to say?"
The cat asked.
I feel like I had something to say,
but I can not remember it.
I can not remember even this cat's name,
as I think.
"Well, you're not used to it yet,
and you probably don't get the right words."
The cat has gone to the other room.
For a while, I kept thinking
about the proper words to talk to the cat.
Soon the cat is back.
I asked the cat.
"What was left in the other room?"
"There was your body."
The cat yawned.
"It's still barely alive."
