約束通り、彼女は現れた。

その向こうに景色が見えるのだった。

ああ、約束なんかするんじゃなかった。

「なんのこと？」
やっぱり彼女、気づいてないんだ。
どうしても伝えなくては。
「じつは君、死んじゃったんだよ」

「生前に僕と約束したから、君は幽霊になって････」
「なに言ってるの？」

「ふざけないで！」
すっかり彼女を怒らせてしまった。
「私たち、一緒に死んだのよ！」
「えっ!?」
「心中したのよ！」
彼女の怒った顔を透かして
向こうに暗い川が見えた。
その手前にある川原の立て札の文字さえ
読むことができた。
