おもいで川はいつも暗く深く澱んでいる。
土手に立ち、ぼんやり眺めていると
壊れた人形や別れた知人が流されてくる。
川面にはいつも濃い霧が立ち込めている。
そのため向こう岸の風景はほとんど何も見えない。
おもいで川の途中にはとても古い橋が架かっている。
これを忘れ橋と人は呼ぶ。
この橋を渡ると、こちら側の記憶を失ってしまう。
かすかに憶えている場合もあるが
それはたまたま風が霧を払ったからだろう。
忘れ橋からおもいで川に身を投げると
二度と再び岸に上がれないという。
おもいで川に流されると、いつか死の海に注ぎ
やがて皆から忘れ去られてしまう。
だから、忘れ橋をひとりで渡る時は
決して欄干に近づいたりしないことだ。
いつしか、まわりの親しい人たちが
みんな記憶をなくしてゆく。
一緒に旅した土地を忘れ、一緒に口ずさんだ歌を忘れ
昨日のことを忘れ、今日のことさえ忘れてしまう。

Memories River
Memories River is always dark and deeply stagnant.
When you stand on the bank and looking idly,
a broken doll or a broken acquaintance
will be flowing.
There is always a thick fog on the river.
Therefore, you can see almost nothing
of the landscape on the other side.
A very old bridge is hanging
in the middle of Memories River.
People call this the forgotten bridge.
As you cross this bridge,
you lose the memory of our side.
You may remember faintly,
but it happened that
the wind accidentally paid the fog.
If you throw yourself
from the forgotten bridge to Memories River,
you will never be able to go up the shore again.
Shed by Memories River,
one day I will pour into the sea of death
and eventually will be forgotten by everyone.
So, when you cross the Forgotten Bridge alone
you will never approach a balustrade.
Someday, all close friends will lose their memories.
They forget the land they had traveled with,
forgetting songs that are squatting with them,
forgetting about yesterday
and even forget about today.
