だんだん臭いがひどくなってきた。
鼻は鈍感な方だが、それでも耐え難い。
歩道に寝転ぶ人々の姿が目につく。
水を撒かれているのに平気で眠っている。
ひとりの男の腕に大きな醜い傷があった。
腐っているらしく蠅がたかっている。
あるいは死体かもしれない。
まさに異臭通りだ。
しゃがんで通行人を見上げる老婆。
あやしげなものを食べている子ども。
汚れて破れた服の少女が不自然に笑っている。
それとも、自然に泣けないのだろうか。
なにか踏んでも怖くて確認できない。
大便や小動物の死体ならまだしも
手首や胎児が落ちていることもあるそうだ。
ますます臭いがひどくなってきた。
臭気が目にしみて、通りが霞んで見える。
めまいさえしてきた。
しかし、立ち止まってはいけない。
そのまま歩道にしゃがみそうになるから。
この通りに飲み込まれてしまったら
もうおしまいだ。
Stink Street
The smell was getting worse.
I have a dull nose, but I still can't stand it.
I can see people lying on the sidewalk.
They are sprinkled with water,
but they are sleeping calmly.
There was a big ugly wound on a man's arm.
It seems to be rotten and has many flies.
Or it may be a corpse.
It's just a stink street.
An old woman crouching down
and looking up at a passerby.
A child eating something suspicious.
A girl in dirty and torn clothes is laughing unnaturally.
Or can she not cry naturally?
Even if I step on something,
I'm scared and can't confirm it.
If it is a stool or a carcass of a small animal,
the wrist or fetus may have fallen.
The smell is getting worse and worse.
The odor is in my eyes and the street looks hazy.
I've even been dizzy.
But don't stop.
Because I'm almost crouching on the sidewalk.
If I'm swallowed by this street, I'm done.
