父と伯父との間でトラブルが発生したようだ。
遺産相続問題とか、とにかくその類だろう。
それで急遽、伯父の家で親族会議を開くことになった。
私も出席せねばなるまい。
ひとり到着し、玄関から中に入る。
伯父の家は実家より幾分広いようだ。
居間にいた伯父にまず挨拶する。
記憶に残らないような世間話をしたかもしれない。
母と兄は先に到着していた。
奥の和室の畳の上、座布団に座っている。
父の姿はない。
なぜなら私の父は亡くなって久しい。
そもそも伯父も母もすでにこの世にない。
だが、気になるのはそこではない。
「やはり部屋には十分な広さが必要だな。
狭いと､どうしても物を高く積んでしまう」
さらに伯父は続ける。
「高く積めば積むほど倒れるリスクが高まる。
結局、ろくなことにならない」
A Family Council
