なにやら物音がする。
カーテンとガラス窓を開ける。
知り合いの老人が裏庭で土木作業をしていた。
彼には若い外国人妻と中学生の息子がいる。
大工だが、脚を悪くして仕事ができないそうだ。
さらに、電動工具の使用中に片手の指を数本切断。
住んでる集合住宅の管理組合費も滞納気味。
なのに、息子が所属するサッカーチーム送迎のため
クルマを手放せず、生活保護を受けられないとか。
考えが甘いとしか思えない。
そう言えば最近、病気で入院したと聞いていたが････
「発電機と扇風機をコードでつないでみたんだよ」
なるほど、扇風機のファンが回転している。
だが、どうも信用ならん。
三相式かなんか知らんが、大丈夫なのか。
案の定、発電機から炎が上がった。
あわてて叫ぶ。
「火が出たぞ。どうしたらいいんだ？」
