森のはずれ、切り株に腰をかけ
きこりが休んでいました。
そこへ、木の実を抱えてリスがやってきました。
「きこりさん、お食事はすみましたか？」
「いいえ、リスさん。まだですが」
「それでは、木の実を食べてくださいな」
いくつか木の実を地面に置くと
そのままリスは走り去りました。
「いやはや。妙なことがあるものだ」
首をかしげながら、きこりは木の実を食べます。
やがて、さっきのリスが戻ってきました。
「きこりさん、お食事はすみましたか？」
返事はありません。
きこりは消えていました。
帰ってしまったのでしょうか。
不思議そうにリスは首をかしげます。
きこりが座っていた切り株から
新しい芽が出ていました。
まるで首をかしげたような
その小さな木の芽。

The Logger
Sitting on the stump at the end of the forest,
a logger was absent.
There, the squirrel came with the nuts.
"Mr. logger, have you finished your meal?"
"No, squirrel, I am not yet."
"Then, please eat the nuts."
The squirrel dropped off
as soon as some squirrels were placed on the ground.
"What a strange thing is."
The logger tilted his head and ate the nuts.
Eventually the squirrel earlier came back.
"Mr. logger, have you finished your meal?"
There is no reply.
The logger has disappeared.
Did he return home?
It seemed strange that squirrel caught her head.
There was a new sprout from the stump
that the logger was sitting on.
Its like a tilted head, that little bud.
