この期におよんで神父は説教を始めた。
「ああ、悔い改めるさ。
あんたを神のもとへ送ってからな」
おれは神父の胸にナイフを突き刺した。
「おれを許すか？」
おれは神父に問うた。
「たとえ私が許しても、神は許すまい」
神父は絶命した。
それから、おれは悔い改めた。
「ああ、神よ。おれを許してくれ！」
