妹には友だちがいない。
それこそひとりもいない。
「どうして友だちを作らないんだ？」
そう尋ねたことがある。
「他にすることがあるから」
それが妹の返事だった。
けれども、妹は忙しくなにかしてる様子はない。
寝転んでいなければ部屋の中を歩きまわるくらいで
家の外へも滅多に出ようとしない。
「なにしてんだよ？」
「考えごと」
「どうだ、映画館に行かないか？」
「興味ない」
取りつく島もない。
引きこもりではなく、たまに外出すると
一週間くらい家に帰らないことさえあった。
「おれが友だちになってやろうか？」
ある時、ふざけて言ってみたら
「あら、友だちじゃなかったの？」
だって。
まあ、兄と思われていないことくらい
とっくの昔に知っていたけどさ。

Unnecessary Friends
My sister has no friends.
There is not one.
"Why are not you making friends?"
That's what I asked.
"Because there is something else to do."
That was my sister's reply.
However, my sister does not seem to be busy something.
If she is not lying down, not walking around the room,
she will rarely go out of the house.
"What are you doing?"
"Thinking."
"How about going to the cinema?"
"Am not interested."
She is unapproachable.
She was not a shut-in,
but even when she went out sometimes
she even did not go home for about a week.
"Will I be your friend?"
One time, if I try to playfully.
"Oh, you were not my friend?"
She says.
Well, as long as I knew it was not believed
to be an older brother from her, long ago.
