暗い道の先の向こうから
バンジョーを弾きながら男がやってくる。
「ハーイ！」
陽気な男だ。
おそらく酔ってる。
「ハーイ！」
俺も酔ってる。
片手を上げて挨拶する。
男はバンジョーを弾きながら
そのまま俺が歩いて来た道を行く。
俺はバンジョーを持ってないが
そのまま男の歩いて来た道を行く。
お互い、もう会うこともなかろう。
バンジョーの物悲しい音だけが
しばらく俺の耳に残る。

Man Playing Banjo
From the other side of the dark road,
a man comes while playing a banjo.
"Hi!"
A cheerful man.
He is probably drunk.
"Hi!"
I'm drunk too.
I raise one hand and say hello.
The man plays the banjo
and goes the way I walked.
I don't have a banjo,
but I just go the way he walked.
We won't meet each other anymore.
Only the sad sound of the banjo remains
in my ears for a while.
