当然ながら任務は極秘である。
昔はスパイ道具なるものを山ほど持ち歩いていたが
今は改造した携帯端末ひとつあれば十分。
盗聴、盗撮、傍受、解析、連絡、なんでもござれ。
身軽なものだ。
鍵の開け方、爆弾の作り方、スマートな殺し方なんかも
上手に検索すれば最新の方法を知ることができる。
もっとも近頃は、わざわざ出かけるまでもない。
自宅でPC操作するだけでほとんど片付いてしまう。
世界中に散らばるスパイウェアからの
自動発信情報を定期的に管理するだけだ。
ただし、このスパイウェアの管理が難しい。
要するに、人間スパイの管理と同じ。
自分で手配した奴だけならともかく
外部から送り込まれるスパイウェアも管理せばならない。
そもそもスパイウェアを完全に遮断するのは難しい。
また、単純に遮断するだけでは有用な情報は得られない。
なので、それらしいガセネタを流したり
あるいは巧妙に改造して逆に利用したりもする。
ところが、それだけでは済まない。
相手に送り込んだはずのこちらのスパイウェアが
同じく二重スパイウェアに改造された可能性
なきにしもあらず。
つまり、話がややこしい。
おかげで、なんともやり切れない気分になってしまって
たまにはスパイもこんな告白をしてしまう
というわけだ。

Spy Confession

into double spyware.
