わたくしがたまたま助けてさし上げたご老人は
自信たっぷりに、このようにおっしゃいました。
「わしは水道の神である。助けてもらった礼として
あんたの家の水道水を、あんたが望むものに変えてしんぜよう」
お酒でもジュースでも血液でも、なんでも好きなものが
ひとつだけ選べるのだそうです。
ご冗談に決まっておりますが、わたくしは悩んでしまいました。
なにしろ毎日使うものですから、迂闊なことは申せません。
しばらく悩んだ末に、わたくしはお願いしました。
「それでは、できましたら、清きお水にしてくださいな」
すると、ご老人はにっこり微笑みました。
「おお。それはそれは、なかなか賢い選択じゃな」
なので、それからというもの、わたくしの家の水道水は
いつもいつも、本当に清きお水なのでした。

Clean Water
The old man I happened to help said with full confidence.
"I am the god of water. As a thank you for your help,
I will change the tap water in your house to what you want."
I heard that I can choose only one thing I like,
