その人は会社の偉い人だった。
よくわからないが偉そうな人だった。
ある日、飲み会があった。
その偉い人と途中まで一緒にタクシーで帰った。
自宅の方向が同じだったのだ。
なかなか会話が弾んだような気がする。
翌日、会社のそれほど偉くもない人が問う。
「あの人は無事に帰宅できただろうか」
「大丈夫だと思いますよ。
別れた時は平気そうでしたから」
「別れた後のことはわからないではないか」
「それはまあ、そうですけど」
「確認すべきだったのではないか」
「そうでしょうか」
「なにしろ、あの人は高齢だから」
「たとえ確認しても、結果は変わりませんよ」
「しかし、心配ではないか」
「心配ですけど、それはべつに昨日に限りませんからね」
その会話もタクシーの中だったような気がする。

Conversation in a Taxi
That person was a great man in the company.
I don't know, but he looked great.
One day, there was a drinking party.
I took a taxi back halfway with the great man.
The direction of our home was the same.
We feel like the conversation has bounced.
The next day, a not-so-great person
from the company asks.
"Have he been able to return home safely?"
"I think he's okay,
because he looked fine when we broke up."
"Don't you know him after parting?"
"Well, that's right."
"Should you have confirmed him?"
"What so?"
"After all, he's old."
"Even if I check, the result will not change."
"But don't you worry?"
"I'm worried, but it's not limited to yesterday."
