学校の教室のような部屋の中で
ボードゲームのリーグ戦が行われている。
オセロのようでもあり、囲碁のようでもある。
ルールはよくわからない。
強豪とされる男が声をかけてきた。
「君は意外と強いのだね」
参加者の段級位が壁に表示されている。
どうやら私は二段のようだ。
「やってみないとわかりません」
「では、やりなさい」
それで私も試合に参加することになった。
嬉しいが、ちょっと不安。
しかも途中で行方不明になった選手の代役として
中盤戦から始めなければならない。
マージャン牌を積み上げたような駒の列が並ぶ。
それを♯や♭のある半音の駒で挟むと消せるらしい。
やはりどうもルールが不明瞭だ。
時間制限もあるので適当に駒を置く。
すると、その駒の列の一段目が消えた。
その手を見て、相手の少年選手が悩み始める。
