その建物はホテルのようでもあり、または
大きなイベント会場のようでもある。
なんでも、この地に進出した大企業の社長さんが
空き地だった場所に建てたのだそうだ。
そういえば、いきさつを本人から聞いた記憶がある。
コイントスとかで、なんとなく決めたのだそうだ。
それはさておき、私は広い会場を見下ろすように
中二階みたいな空中通路を歩いている。
たくさんの人々が映画のエキストラのように
事務やら営業やら、それらしく働いている。
通路は個室が並ぶ宿泊施設へと続く。
同行の案内嬢からパンフレットを受け取り
ひとつのドアをよくわからないまま開ける。
そこには知る人ぞ知る人物がいた。
ただし、知らない人にはごく普通の青年である。
彼にパンフレットを手渡す。
やがて、待ちきれなかったかのように
さきほどの案内嬢が入室してきた。
続いて、古い知人の中年男も入ってきた。
後続のふたりは場所柄もわきまえず
互いの愛を確認するための言動を周囲に見せつける。
このふたりが相思相愛であったとは内心意外。
人の好みとはわからないものである。
