店主である中国人男と話をしていた。
「つまり夢とは、イメージの乱数メーカーさ」
そんな話題ではなかったような気がする。
「遅かれ早かれ、いずれ人は死ぬものだからね」
「そうそう。いちいち騒ぐほどじゃない」
この際、会話の内容なんかどうでもいい。
問題は、店主の頬から伸び出た無精ひげ。
線香のようにまっすぐ伸びて長くて太い。
あんまり気になるので、店主の頭を手繰り寄せ
むんずと一本、指で引き抜く。
「ほら、こんなに長いよ」
縮れてしまった黒いそれを店主の前に突き出す。
「アイヤー、大したもんだね」
店主は頬を手で撫でる。
「でも、痛いからもう抜かないでね」
「普通、邪魔でしょ？」
「まあ、せいぜい一日一本というところかな」
まったく中国人の頭ん中、よくわからん。
