とりあえず食事の前に入浴させてもらおう。
脱衣所のところで調理場の店主と目が合った。
「ああ、先にひと風呂浴びますね」
「あっ、これはどうも。どうぞどうぞ」
そう返事した彼は、なんとなく緊張した様子。
なにやらうしろめたいところがある感じ。
店主は私に負い目でもあるのだろうか。
確かに、そんな態度を彼にとらせる暗い過去が
私との間にあったような気がする。
いくら現状を取り繕っても
いったん汚れた過去の印象は消えないものだ。
