玄関チャイムに起こされた。
同じ集合住宅に独り暮らしの老女だった。
「こんな明るいうちに灯りがついていたので
全部消してきたんですよ」とのこと。
ちょっと前に関連報告を受けていた。
今回と同じように雨が降る夕方のこと。
足の不自由な彼女が共用階段の灯りをつけたら
同じ号棟に住む老人から怒鳴られたそうだ。
「こんな明るいうちから灯りをつけるな！」
いわゆるキレる老人として度々問題を起こす。
その気持ちわからぬでもないが
怒鳴るまでもないことを怒鳴ることはない。
「相手が悪い」ことはわかっているが
すっかり彼女は怯え、今回の報告となった。
「わざわざ消さなくてもいいですよ。
もし怒られたら自分じゃないと言えばいい」
だが、ことなかれに済ませたいのだろう。
「あんな怒鳴られたこと、親からもありません」
私だって、ことなかれに済ませたい。
触らぬ神に祟りなし。
言ってわかってもらえるものならば。
