眠っていたら物音がする。
パチパチと爆ぜるような音。
なんだろう。
ふと思い出す。
放火する、と事前予告があったのだ。
あわてて起床する。
ベランダ側の掃き出し窓を開ける。
当然、理事長である俺のところを狙うはず。
ところが、火の気はない。
爆ぜる音は階上から聞こえる。
手すりに背中をつけて見上げる。
煙が出ている。
なぜか上の部屋が火元だ。
手すりを足場にして立つ。
二階のベランダに置かれた紙の小山が燃えていた。
これはいけない。
「火事だー！」大声で叫ぶ。
書類を引き抜くようにして火の小山を崩す。
すると、窓を開けて二階の住人が顔を出した。
「これは予告の火事でなく、練習用ですよ」
困ったものだ、と迷惑顔で男は言う。
「ふざけるな！」おれは怒鳴る。
「こんなに燃えてるのに練習のはずあるか！」
ちなみに現在、大規模修繕工事の最中。
なのでマンション全周に足場が組まれていた。
さらに梅雨に入り、雨が降っていた。
この雨垂れの音が爆ぜる音にそっくりだったのだ。
Notice of Arson
I hear a noise when I am asleep.
Sounds like a crackling explosion.
I wonder what.
I remember suddenly.
There was a prior notice that the fire would occur.
I get up early.
Open the dust outlet on the veranda side.
Naturally, the criminal should aim for me who is the director.
However, there is no feeling of fire.
Sounds of explosion are heard from the upper floor.
I put my back on the handrail and looked up.
There is smoke.
Somehow the upper room is a fire source.
I stand by the handrail.
A small pile of paper was burning on the second floor veranda.

"Fire!" I scream loudly.
I pull out the documents and destroy the fire mountain.
Then, the window was opened
and the residents of the second floor came out.
"This is not a warning fire, it's for practice."
The man says that he is in trouble, with a nuisance face.
"Don't play it!" I yell.
"Is there something that should be done
though this is burning so much!"
By the way,
we are in the middle of large scale repair work now.
Therefore, scaffolding was built around the apartment.
Furthermore, it entered the rainy season and it was raining.
The sound of this raindrop was just like the explosion.
