母校の剣道部の部室。
今、道着に着替えたところ。
高校を卒業してから初めて顔を出す。
久しぶりに練習に参加するつもりになっている。
部室から短い廊下を隔てて道場がある。
先ほど、懐かしい先輩諸氏の顔ぶれを見た。
ご無沙汰しているので気恥ずかしい。
手に持つ竹刀は頼もしい。
胴着の着心地、清々しい。
だが、始めの一歩が踏み出せぬ。
部室の戸口の前に立ち、しばし戸惑う。
