大空を飛行中である。
ゼロ戦よりやや大きい飛行機に乗って。
しかも、尾翼を背に機体の上に立って。
風圧はほとんど感じない。
また、それを不思議とも思わない。
なぜか高所における恐怖もなし。
これは大地が視界に入ってないためか。
後方より友軍機が一機、接近して並ぶ。
緊急時の対応が思い出せず、不安がよぎる。
片手で尾翼の端をつかんだまま
もう片手でマニュアルを開こうとする。
うまく開けないでいるうちに失敗した。
着陸する地点を過ぎてしまったのだ。
友軍機はしっかり着陸していた。
そのパイロットは若い女性だった。
のちほど上官から叱責された。
「どうして着陸しなかったのだ」
「マニュアルを熟読していたため
指示を見逃してしまいました」
「尾翼の近くに停止ボタンがあるだろうが」
「すみません。知りませんでした」
「まったく」上官はさじを投げた。
こっちこそ「まったく」である。
Totally Tail

than the Zero fighter.
