エスカレーターもエレベーターもない。
百貨店を連想した自分自身がわからなかった。
しかしながら階段はあった。
とりあえず下りてみよう。
すぐに踊り場がある。
女がふたり、舌をからめている。
ひとりはオッパイがこぼれていた。
もうひとりはお尻がこぼれていた。
「あんた、どこ見てるのよ」
足もとから声がする。
見知らぬ老婦人が倒れていた。
こちらを見上げている。
荷物らしきものが床に散らばっていた。
「いや、これは失礼しました」
衝突したのに気づかなかったのだろう。
あわてて老婦人を起こしてやる。
手が冷たい。
まるでマネキン人形だ。
「中身がこぼれてしまったわ」
彼女が示す破れた紙箱の中から犬が現れる。
大きな犬だ。
尻尾と舌が異様に長い。
そのまま歩き出す。
よだれを垂らしながら階段を下りてゆく。
うーん、どうも犬は苦手だ。
The Dog in the Landing
