そのため、商品を取り出しにくい。
そのせいか、未開封の缶詰やプリンなどが
すぐそばの棚の上にいくつも置いてあった。
おれはそれらを両手でつかみ、持ち去らんとする。
どこか人のいないところで食べてやろう。
廊下を駆け抜け、階段の途中、床が汚れているのに気づく。
シチューをこぼしたような感じ。
靴跡なども残っており、これはちょっと前に
自分が踏んだような記憶がよみがえる。
これが物的証拠となって犯人が特定されるかもしれない。
そう思い、商品を持ったままの両手で汚れをすくう。
完全にはすくえず、とりあえず一部分でもすくい、
それを片づけてから戻るつもりになっている。
ところが、前方の踊り場に人の気配。
こんな状態を誰かに見られたら言い訳もできない。
引き返すうち、両手からシチューが垂れ落ちる。
ますます状況が悪くなるばかり。
