そこが市場のようになって人が集まっている。
外国人らの姿もあった。
白人の男が熱心に探し物をしている。
新聞紙の写真が気になった。
首まで水につかった少女がベンチでくつろいでいる。
どうやら異国で洪水があったらしい。
役肉を食べたい、などと発言しているようだ。
その写真を見て、おれは思い出した。
「集中豪雨があった時、おれは東京で泳いだんだよ」
近くにいた中国人に自慢話をする。
日本橋の通りがプールのようになっていた。
そこを歩いたり泳いだりした経験の記憶。
だが、あとで考えてみたら、そんな事実はなかった。

I remembered when I saw the picture.
"I swam in Tokyo when there was a torrential rain."
I brag about the Chinese who were nearby.
The street of Nihonbashi was like a pool.
Memories of the experience of walking
and swimming there.
However, when I thought about it later,
that was not the case.
