どこぞのグラウンドで野球の練習中。
隣の敷地からテニスボールが転がってきた。
それを拾い、隣の少年に投げ返す。
そこに打球が二つ飛んできた。
ほぼ同時に左右の素手でキャッチ。
女子ピッチャーに投げ返す。
彼女の健康そうな体格と笑顔がまぶしい。
おれの野球のセンスはなかなかなものだ。
それなのに、おれは外野の球拾い。
レギュラーとして選ばれたのは彼女。
求められているものを有する者が選ばれる。
結局、そういうことなのだな。
Picking up Balls
I'm practicing baseball on some ground.
A tennis ball rolled from the next site.
I pick it up and throw it back to the boy next site.
Two hit balls flew there.
I caught it with my left and right bare hands almost
at the same time.
I throw it back to the female pitcher.
Her healthy physique and her smile are dazzling.
My sense of baseball is pretty good.
Even so, I picked up the outfield ball.
She was chosen as a regular.
Those who have what is required are selected.
After all, that's what it is.
