「あっ、落としましたよ！」
老人を呼び止めた。
歩道に落ちたものを拾ってやる。
それは眉であった。
真っ白な眉。
「これはこれは。すまんすまん」
老人に白い眉を手渡す。
なるほど。
老人の顔には片方の眉がない。
「ありがとうな。助かったよ」
「いいえ。どういたしまして」
先を急いでいたら、老人に呼び止められた。
「もしもし。これは違うぞ」
片眉の老人が追かけてきた。
「これは左の眉ではないか」
老人の手のひらの上のそれを見る。
言われてみると、確かに左眉だ。
老人の顔を見る。
「落としたのは右の眉だ」
片眉の老人は断言するのだった。
なるほど。
老人の顔には右側の眉がなかった。
その反対側の眉を見る。
なんとも異様な眉であった。
なぜなのか、その理由がわかった。
「この左側の眉は、右眉ですね」
そう言われて、老人は驚いたらしい。
異様な眉が異様に下がったから。
おそらく、吊り上げたつもりなのだろう。
上下も逆さまだったから。
Old Man with One Eyebrow
"Oh, you dropped it!"
I stopped the old man.
I'll pick up what fell on the sidewalk.
It was an eyebrow.
Pure white eyebrows.
"Thank you, thank you."
I hand the old man a white eyebrow.
So that's it.
The old man's face does not have one eyebrow.
"Thank you. I was saved."
"Good. You're welcome."
When I was in a hurry, the old man stopped me.
"Hey. This is different."
An old man with one eyebrow followed.
"Is this the left eyebrow?"
Look at it on the palm of the old man.
When he told me, it was the left eyebrow.
I look at the old man's face.
"I dropped my right eyebrows."
The old man with one eyebrow affirmed.
So that's it.
The old man's face had no right eyebrows.
Look at the other eyebrows.
It was a weird eyebrow.
I understand why.
"Your left eyebrow is the right eyebrow."
The old man seemed surprised.
Because the strange eyebrows dropped strangely.
Perhaps he intends to lift it.
Because it was still upside down.
