ご近所の知人ら数名と一緒に
雑木林みたいな庭の草刈りをしている。
幹が異様にねじれた低木の
枯れた根方の表面を老人が
そんなに削ったら木が倒れるではないか。
心配になるが、どうも言い出しかねる。
それはともかく、変な動物が目につく。
池の中には、赤い網目状の海藻とか
古代生物みたいなのが悠々と泳いでいる。
地上には、たくさんの伸び縮みする芋虫。
動きの鈍いウミウシもいた。
海底に棲むはずのウミウシのくせに
そいつはなぜか木の枝の上を這っている。
害虫なら殺すべきかもしれない。
だが、生々しく、どうも手を出せない。
白っぽくて薄い青緑色のウミウシ。
色がきれいなので、飼ってみたくなってきた。
それともう一匹、どんなのか忘れたが
ショッピングバッグに水を入れて持ち帰る。
この庭のオーナーは、私の友人のようだ。
草刈りの報告ついでに友人宅へ寄る。
ウミウシ入りショッピングバックの中も見せる。
友人からは別段の文句も出なかったが
じつは持ち出し禁止のものではなかったか。
あとで少し気になった。

Keep a Sea Slug
I am mowing the garden like a miscellaneous plant
with a few of my neighbors.

A whitish and light blue-green sea slug.
The color is beautiful, so I want to keep it.

but put the water in the shopping bag and take it home.
This garden owner seems to be my friend.
