人里離れた山の渓流。
若者が釣り糸を垂れていた。
他には誰もいないようであった。
草木が茂り、鳥と虫が鳴いていた。
若者の竿に当たりがあった。
鮎であった。
よく跳ねる美しい川魚。
それを魚籠に受ける、と
若者は目を見張った。
釣ったばかりの鮎の姿が消えていた。
その鱗にも似た美しい生地の衣があるばかり。
（天女の羽衣か、水龍の姫の着物か）
若者は川上に目をやった。
渓流の奥へと続く。
耳を澄ますと
呼ぶ声がするようであった。
「見目うるわしき若者よ。
わが衣を拾っておくれかえ？」
それは遠い滝の水音だったかもしれない。
あるいは吹き抜ける風のいたずらか。
若者の目は、すでに夢見る男の目。
渓流を遡るように
ふらふらと若者は歩き始めた。
やがて若者の姿は
草木の茂みに隠されてしまった。
あとは釣り具だけが残された。
鳥と虫が鳴いている。
うるさいほどに。

Sweetfish Clothes
A remote mountain stream.
A young man was hanging fishing line.
Nobody seemed to be anywhere else.
There were vegetation, birds and insects singing.
A young man hit a fishing rod.
It was a sweetfish.
A beautiful river fish that bounces well.
The young man received it in a fish basket
and watched it.
The fish that had just been caught disappeared.
There's just a beautiful garment similar to that scale.
(Is this a heavenly robe
or a water dragon princess's kimono?)
The young man looked upstream.
It continues deep into the mountain stream.
As he listened,
the voice of a woman calling him seemed.
"It's a beautiful young man.
Did you pick up my clothes? "
It could have been the sound of a distant waterfall.
Or is it the naughty wind that blows through?
The eyes of a young man are the eyes of a man
who already dreams.
The young man began to walk
as if to go up the mountain stream.
Eventually, the figure of the young man
was hidden in the bushes.
Only the fishing gear was left.
Birds and insects are singing, noisy.
