見上げたら、めまいがした。
鬱蒼とした枝葉が邪魔をして
空がちっとも見えやしない。
様々な色の樹皮の幹に囲まれて
身動きさえできやしない。
胸が苦しい。
息が詰まる。
僕はポケットに手を突っ込み、
お気に入りのジャックナイフを取り出す。
銀色の鋭い刃をカチッと起こして
僕は目の前の樹皮へズブリと突き刺した。
「ギャー！」
その忌まわしい怪鳥の叫びは
怖いくらい女の悲鳴に似ていた。
僕の手のひらは樹液で真っ赤になった。
木立が逃げてゆく。
枝葉の覆いが切れる。
それでもまだ空は見えやしない。
蛍光灯の光が、まぶしいだけ。

Forest without Trees
I looked up and felt dizzy.
The dense branches and leaves hinder me
from seeing the sky.
Surrounded by bark trunks of various colors,
I can't even move.
I have chest pain.
I am suffocated.
I put my hand in my pocket
and take out my favorite jackknife.
I snapped up a sharp silver blade
and stabbed the bark in front of me.
"Ahhhh!"
The horrible screaming of a bird was
awfully resembling the scream of a woman.
My palms turned bright red with sap.
The trees run away.
The branches and leaves are cut off.
Still, I can't see the sky.
The fluorescent light is dazzling.
