金色の二頭立て馬車に揺られ
美しく着飾った女は夜更けに帰宅した。
女はひどく疲れていた。
舞踏会で多くの紳士たちと踊り過ぎた。
（もしも天井のシャンデリアが落ちてきたら）
踊りながら心配ばかりしていた。
（ドレスが赤く染まって、きれいかしら）
女は絹のドレスを脱ぎ捨て
化粧室の大きな鏡の前に立った。
まず美しい髪飾りを取った。
次に輝く首飾りをはずした。
高価な腕輪と指輪とイヤリングもはずした。
それから重いカツラを取り除いた。
さらに優美な曲線の眉を消し
長くてセクシーな付けまつ毛をはぎ取った。
しばらくためらった後、女は
指でえぐるように片方の義眼を取り出した。
そして、諦めた表情のまま
象牙の入れ歯を口から吐き出すのだった。
さらにナイフを頬に当て
女は深くため息をつく。
（心にも化粧できたら、すてきなのにね）
Make Up
A beautifully dressed woman swayed
by a golden chariot came home at dawn.
She was terribly tired.
She danced too much
with many gentlemen at the ball.

The woman stripped off her silk dress and stood
in front of a large mirror in the bathroom.
First of all she took a beautiful hair ornament.
Next she took off her shiny necklace.
She also removed the expensive bracelets,
rings and earrings.
Then she removed the heavy wig.
In addition,
she erased her graceful curved eyebrows
and stripped her long, sexy false eyelashes.
After hesitating for a while,
the woman picked out one of the prostheses
as if she grabbed her fingers.
And she gave up her ivory dentures
from her mouth, giving up.
Then, with a knife on her cheek,
the woman sighs deeply.
