彗星が夜空を焦がしていた。
診療室では女医が少年を治療していた。
「熱いよ、先生！ すごく熱い！」
地団太を踏む、半ズボンの少年。
少年のはだけた胸に煙草の火を押し当てながら
その膝小僧に触れる、女医の細い指。
「ごめんなさいね、聴診器じゃなくて」
少年の他に患者は見当たらない。
看護師さえいない、静かな診療室。
「さあ、私の指と指の間を舐めるのよ」
突き出されたものを見つめる、少年。
照明は、今にも切れそうな蛍光灯。
銀の指輪が鈍く光る。
「大丈夫よ。これは、お薬なんだから」
診療室の窓から見えるのは
燃える軍艦の旗。
思わず眉をひそめるほどに
焦げ臭いにおいがするのだった。

Night Clinic
The comet was burning in the night sky.
A female doctor was treating a boy in the clinic.
"Hot, Doctor! Very hot!"
A boy in shorts who steps on the ground.
A female doctor's thin finger touches the boy's knees
while holding a cigarette on his chest.
"I'm sorry, this is not a stethoscope."
There is no patient other than the boy.
A quiet clinic without even a nurse.
"Now, let's lick between my fingers."
The boy stares at what is sticking out.
The lighting is a fluorescent lamp
that seems to be cut even now.
The silver ring glows dull.
"It's okay. This is a medicine."
The flag of the burning warship is visible
from the window of the clinic.
It smelled burnt enough to frown.
