学校での泊まり込み合宿の初日、
さっそく部員全員で徒競走をするという。
坂道の多いコースを一番で駆け抜け
ゴールとなる教室に到着する。
教卓の上に記録用紙が置いてある。
記録は自己申告することになっている。
掛け時計を見ながら必要項目に記入する。
徒競走は終わった。
他の選手が記録したものも集め
階下にある職員室へ届ける。
顧問の他にも数人の教師の姿があった。
なにやら不穏な話をしている。
「もう持って来たの？」
差し出された記録用紙の束を見て
眼鏡の中年女教師が怪訝な表情をする。
「下駄箱に突っ込んでおきましょうか」
こちらも反抗的な態度になる。
「いいわ。もらっておく」
最初から素直に受け取ればいいのに
と言えない自分。
苛立たしい気持ちのまま職員室を出る。
あの女が顧問だったのかどうか
じつは確信がない。
いずれにせよ
我々は陸上部ではないのだから
大会では他の学校に敵わないだろう。
そんなことを思う。
なんの大会か知らないけど。
Declaration of Records
On the first day of the overnight training camp at school,
all the members will race in a foot race.

and arrived at the goal classroom.

while looking at the wall clock.

and deliver them to the staff room downstairs.

They are telling something disturbing.

A middle-aged female teacher
with glasses looks suspicious
when she sees the bundle of recording paper presented.
"Shall I put these in a shoe box?"
I have a rebellious attitude.
"Okay. I'll get it."

"I wish you could accept it from the beginning."
I leave the staff room with a frustrated feeling.
I'm not sure if she was an adviser.
In any case, we are not a track and field club,
so we will not be able to compete
with other schools at the competition.
