事務所で作業している。
椅子に座らず、デスクの前に立ったまま。
デスクマットの上に置かれた白いコピー用紙を
カッターナイフで帯状に切ろうとしている。
均等な1㎝ほどの幅の紙帯の長さが
それぞれの社員の査定に対応しているようだ。
作業には順番があり、まず最初に
ある新人女性の分を切り出すつもり。
そのためには、まず椅子に座り
定規を使ってまっすぐ切らねばならない気がする。
ところが、その次の順番の大きな男が邪魔をする。
自分の分の紙帯が先に欲しいのか
背後からおれの腰にしがみつくのだ。
これでは身動き取れない。
「おい。なにするんだ」
返事はない。
「放せ。離れろ」
命令無視。
「ふざけるな。手を放さないか」
それでも組みついたまま。
刃を出してない状態のカッターの尖った先端で
おれの腹の前の男の手の甲を押す。
「いい加減にしろ！」
それでも、男の組んだ手はほどけない。
さらに強く押す。
かなり痛いはずなのに、反応はない。
わけがわからない。
こうなったら、カッターの刃を出して押すしかない。
男の手の甲に刃が刺さり、赤い血が出るだろう。
だが、もしそれでも手が離れなかったら
おれはどうすればいいのだろう。
