短大を卒業したばかりの仲良し三人娘。
列車に乗り、バスに揺られ、旅館に泊まり
そこから歩いて山奥までやってきた。
「やっぱり空気がうまいね」
「さっきの清水もおいしいしかった」
「もう最高！」
元気いっぱいである。
「でも、なんか出てきそうね」
「あっ、空飛ぷ円盤だ！」
「あはは、まさか」
にぎやかに山道を上ってゆく。
一本道は大きな森を左右に分けていた。
「ちょっと待ってよ」
ひとりが山道をはずれ、森に入ってゆく。
「あっ、またオシッコだな」
「あたしもする」
「しょうがないな。それじゃ私も」
で、三人とも森の茂みに分け入った。
そこで偶然、それを見つけたのだ。
青く塗装された小型ボート。
船底を上にしてひっくり返っていた。
「うわあ、不思議」
「どうしてこんなところにあるの?」
「きっと誰かが捨てたんだよ」
「誰が？」
「私にわかるはずないじゃん」
廃品とは思えなかった。
どこも傷んでないように見える。
木漏れ日を反射して、まるで新品のよう。
「わあ、揺れる」
ひとりがボートの竜骨の上に乗った。
「あっ、向こうになんか見えるよ」
それは鏡のように光る水面なのだった。
こうして偶然に池が見つかった。
森の中にしてはちょっとした池である。
コンパスで線を引いたように丸い。
水は澄んでいるが、水草が茂っているため
ほとんど池の底は見えない。
深いところはかなり深そうだ。
「うわあ、すてき！」
「伝説の池みたい」
「なかなか神秘的じゃないの」
三人娘は大喜び。
「あのボート、浮かべてみようよ」
誰も反対しない。
距離はあったが、三人は苦労して
なんとかボートを池まで運んでしまう。
きっと森の空気がそうさせたのだろう。
さっそく池にボートを浮かべてみる。
大丈夫みたいだ。
水漏れの心配はなさそうである。
ただし、一人しか乗れそうもない。
「私が乗ってみる」
最初にボートを発見した娘だ。
オールがないので、適当な木の枝を
竿代わりにしてボートに乗り込んだ。
「ちょっと怖いな」
「気をつけてね」
「無理しないでよ」
どうやら沈没する気配はない。
竿の端を岸のひとりに握ってもらい、
そのまま少しだけ岸から離れてみた。
「やったあ！」
「よし、次は私よ、私」
次に乗った娘は、竿で池の底を押し
もっと岸から離れてみせた。
「へへへ、楽しいなあ」
「早く早く。次はあたしが乗るんだから」
最後は池を最初に発見した娘。
思い切って池の真ん中まで進んでいった。
「あつ」
油断して、竿を手放してしまった。
「なにしてるの。早く拾うのよ」
岸に残るふたりが騒ぐ。
ボートの娘があわてて竿に手を伸ばした。
ところが、竿は水中に沈んでしまい
水草に隠れたまま浮かんでこない。
突然、池の真ん中でボートがまわり始めた。
ボートの上で一緒に娘もまわる。
池の水は渦巻いて、水面の中央が凹み
見る見る巨大なすり鉢の形になった。
「助けて！」
娘を乗せたボートは、渦に巻き込まれ
娘の悲鳴と一緒に、あっという間に
すり鉢の底に沈んでしまった。
そのまま池の水は急速に減っていった。
渦巻の底はそのまま池の底になった。
まるで隕石が落ちたクレーターみたい。
その真ん中に穴があいていた。
池の水は全部、娘とボートもろとも
この穴から流れ落ちてしまったらしい。
それっきりである。
置き去りにされたふたりの娘は
ほとんど反狂乱になって麓に辿り着き
地元の駐在を連れて森に戻ってきた。
けれども、あの池は見つからなかった。
いくら探しても、ありふれた森でしかない。
ただし、ボートが置いてあった跡だけは
地面の上にしっかりと残っていた。
でも、それだけ。
どうしようもない。
あの消えた娘は
今でも行方不明のままである。

A Boat in the Forest
Three friends who are just friends
who graduated from junior college.
They got on the train, rocked by the bus,
stayed at the inn,
and walked from there to the mountain.
"After all the air is nice."
"The spring water earlier was also delicious."
"It is already the best!"
They are full of energy.
"But something seems to come out."
"Ah, it's a flying saucer!"
"Haha, it does not matter."
They are going up the mountain path lively.
One Road divided the big forests to the left and right.
"Wait a moment."
One goes out of the mountain path
and goes into the forest.
"Oh, you're urinating again."
"I also do it."
"There must be a shower, then I am well."
So, the three parted into the bushes of the forest.
So, by chance they found it.
A small boat painted blue.
It was turned upside down with the bottom.
"Wow, that is a mystery."
"Why is this in such a place?"
"Someone has thrown away."
"Who?"
"I can not understand."
It didn't seem like a junk.
It looks like everywhere is not damaged.
It reflects sunlight through sunlight,
it looks like a brand new item.
"Wow, shake."
One got on the keel of the boat.
"Ah, I can see something over there."
It was a water surface that shone like a mirror.
Thus they found a pond by chance.
It is a small pond in the forest.
It is round like a line drawn by compass.
Although the water is clear, but the plants are thick,
the bottom of the pond can hardly be seen.
The deep part looks quite deep.
"Wow, nice!"
"Like a legendary pond."
"It's pretty mysterious."
Three girls are delighted.
"Let's raise that boat."
No one will object.
Although there was a distance,
the three people struggled
and somehow carried the boat to the pond.
Perhaps the forest's air did so.
Everyone gets a boat in the pond.
It seems to be okay.
There is no concern about water leakage.
However, it is unlikely that only one person can ride.
"I will take a ride."
The girl who first discovered the boat.
Since there was no oar, she took a boat,
substituting the appropriate tree branch for the rod.
"A little scared."
"You, be careful."
"Do not push yourself."
Apparently there is no sign of sinking.
Having the end of the rod grasped
by one of the shores,
she just tried a little boat away from the shore.
"Ya!"
"Well, next one is me, me."
The next girl pushed the bottom of the pond with a rod
and showed off more from the shore.
"Hey, that's fun."
"Quickly and quickly, because I will ride the next time."
The last girl who discovered the pond first.
She dare to advance to the middle of the pond.
"Huh."
Being careless, she let go of the rod.
"What are you doing, pick it up quickly."
The two who remain on the shore make noise.
The boat girl reached for the rod in a hurry.
However, the rod sinks in the water
and does not float while hiding in the aquatic plants.
Suddenly the boat started to roll
around in the middle of the pond.
She also turns around on the boat.
The water of the pond swirled,
the center of the water surface dented,
it became the shape of a huge mortar to see.
"Help me!"
The boat with the girl caught in a whirlpool,
and with the scream of her,
it quickly sank to the bottom of the mortar.
The water of the pond decreased rapidly as it was.
The bottom of the swirl has become
the bottom of the pond as it is.
It's like a crater where the meteorite fell.
There was a hole in the middle.
It seems that all of the water in the pond flowed down
from this hole, with both the girl and the boat.
It is clear.
The two girls left behind got almost anti-frightened,
reached the foot,
and brought back the local police officers
back to the forest.
But they could not find that pond.
No matter how much
they looked it was only a commonplace forest.
However, only the trace on which
the boat was placed remained firmly on the ground.
But that's it.
Nor helpless.
The girl who disappeared still remains missing.
