あまりにも遠い夏休みの思い出。
半ズボンで、麦わら帽子をかぶって
林を縫うように山道を歩いていた。
手には捕虫網と虫かご。
小さな昆虫図鑑も持っていたかもしれない。
いたるところに清水が湧いていたから
水筒は持っていなかったはず。
暑かった。
アブラゼミが鳴いていた。
のちに自然保護地域に指定される池にたどり着く。
当時は、珍しい浮島のある怪しい池。
池のほとりに小さな社が建っていた。
その裏側にある大きな石にひとり腰かけ
しばらく池を眺めていた。
さびしいとは思わなかった。
ひとりだから楽しい。そんな気分。
小石を投げ入れると、水面に波紋が広がった。
その波紋の上を赤い蝶が飛んでいた。
息をするのも忘れ、胸が苦しくなった。
赤い翅の蝶なんか見たことなかったから。
捕虫網をつかんで夢中で駆け出した。
そして、そのまま池に落ちてしまった。
そうだ、落ちたのだ。
たしかに池に落ちたはずなのだ。
忘れられるようなことでもないはずなのに
どうして今まで忘れていたのだろう。
あまりにも遠い夏休みの思い出。
A Red Butterfly
Memories of a summer vacation that is too far away.
In shorts, wearing a straw hat, I was walking down
the mountain road like weaving a forest.
An insect net and an insect cage in my hand.
I might have had a small insect picture book as well.
I shouldn't have a water bottle
because fresh water was springing up everywhere.
It was hot.
The brown cicada was singing.
I arrived at a pond that was later designated
as a nature conservation area.
At that time,
a suspicious pond with a rare floating island.
A small shrine was built by the pond.
I sat alone on the big stone behind it
and looked at the pond for a while.
I didn't feel lonely.
It's fun because I'm alone. I feel like that.
When I threw in the pebbles,
ripples spread on the surface of the water.
A red butterfly was flying over the ripples.
I forgot to breathe and my chest became painful.
I've never seen a red wing butterfly.
I grabbed the insect net and ran crazy.
And I just fell into the pond.
Yes, I have fallen.
I must have fallen into the pond.
It shouldn't be forgotten,
but why have I forgotten it?
