天井に照明が一つ、他は闇。
白色光だが、あまり光量はない。
蛍光灯ではなく、発光ダイオードかも。
その光に誘われ、一匹の虫が飛んでくる。
大きな毛深いハチのよう。
なぜかおれは片手に竹の物差を持っている。
それを振って虫を叩き落とそうと繰り返し試みる。
腕に力が入らず、速く振れない。
だから、当たってもなかなか落ちない。
電源コードらしきものが天井から垂れ下がっていて
それも機敏な動作の邪魔をする。
たまたま強く当たり、虫が床に落ちた。
飛び立たぬうちに急いで追撃する。
包丁で切るように竹の物指を押し当てる。
まるでロールケーキでも切る感触。
大きさもそんな感じ。
五つほど切れ目を入れ、動かなくなった。
やっと安心する。
おとなしい虫だった。
こちらに向かってくるわけでもなかった。
この虫を殺すことによって、いったい
何を成し遂げたつもりになっているのやら。

Bamboo Ruler
One light on the ceiling, the other is dark.
It is white light, but there is not much light.
It may not be a fluorescent light but a light emitting diode.
It is invited by that light, and one insect comes flying.
It looks like a big hairy bee.
For some reason I have a bamboo ruler on one hand.
I try to shake it and try to knock out insects repeatedly.
I can not swing quickly
because I do not have power in my arms.
Therefore, even if it hit, it does not fall easily.
A thing like a power cord hangs down from the ceiling,
which also interferes with agile operation.
It happened to be strong, and the insect fell to the floor.
Hurry and pursue without flying.
I hit the bamboo thing finger like a knife cut.
It feels like cutting roll cake.
Size is like that.
I cut it by as much as 5 and it stopped moving.
Finally at ease.
It was a quiet insect.
It did not come toward me either.
What on earth have I done as a result of killing this bug?
