昔、トラの毛は 真っ黒でした。
カラスの羽の色と いい勝負でした。
「もっと明るい色に してください」
トラは 神さまに お願いしました。
すると 神さまは 断りました。
「そんな願い、いちいち叶えていたら きりがない」
けれども トラは 諦めません。
いつまでも しつこく お願いするのでした。
「やれやれ、仕方ないな。ただし 全部は無理だぞ」
神さまは トラの願いを 半分だけ 叶えてやりました。
そういうわけで、その時から トラの毛は
黄色と黒の あのシマシマに なったのです。
Tiger Hair
In the past, tiger fur was black.
It was about the color of a crow's feathers.
"Make it brighter."
The tiger asked God.
God refused.
"I would never be able to fulfill your wishes one by one."
However, the tiger does not give up.
He kept asking God for help.

God granted only half of his wish.
That's why from that time on the tiger's fur had
that yellow and black striped pattern.
