その工事現場にヘルメットを届けるよう
兄からことづかったのだ。
詳しいいきさつは忘れた。
野球のヘルメットのようでもあり
消防士が被る耐火性のもののようでもある。
とにかく、それを届けたのだ。
最寄り駅の近く、地下鉄の工事であろうか。
すると、届くのがあまりに早かったためか
現場の作業員が不審そうな顔をする。
「ありえない」
彼は携帯電話で関係者に確認をする。
「丸一日ほど早いですよね。
まだ他のヘルメットはひとつも届いていないのに」
やがて誤解がとける。
「そうだったんですか。すみません」
途中の受け渡しのタイミングが絶妙であったらしい。
「いやあ、たいしたものですね」
べつにたいしたことはしてはいないのだが
そう褒められると、なんだか嬉しい。

A Helmet
My brother asked me to deliver a helmet
to the construction site.
I forgot the details.
It's like a baseball helmet,
and it's like the firefighters suffer.
Anyway, I delivered it.
Is it the construction of the subway
near the nearest station?
Then, probably because it arrived too early,
the workers at the site look suspicious.
"Impossible."
He confirms with the people concerned
on his mobile phone.
"It's about a full day early, though
I haven't received any other helmets yet."
Eventually the misunderstanding disappears.
"Is that so? I'm sorry."
It seems that the timing of delivery
on the way was exquisite.
"It's a big deal."
I haven't done much to it,
but I'm kind of happy to be praised.
