真夜中、ドタリドタリと音がする。
あれはヘビが階段を落ちる音。
どうやら家の中にヘビがいるようだ。
小さな千の谷がある田舎ゆえ
小さな千の山もあり、ヘビも多い。
戸締りしない古い木造なので
ヘビが家に侵入したって不思議ではない。
学校から帰宅したら、玄関から続く板の間に
近所の婆さんが昼寝していたりするくらいだ。
ある夜、サッシのガラス窓を割って
フクロウが家の中に飛び込んだこともあった。
ある日など、居間でこたつに入っていたら
廊下にいたネズミと目を見合わせてしまった。
また、ドタリ。
案外あれは、暴れるネズミを飲み込んだ拍子に
ヘビが階段を転げ落ちた音かもしれない。
Snakes in the House
At midnight, I hear the sounds.
"Plop, plop."
That sounds a snake falling down the stairs.
Apparently there seems to be a snake in the house.
Because of the countryside
with a small thousand valleys,
there are also small thousand mountains
and many snakes.

that a snake has invaded the house
because it is an old wooden structure
that does not lock up.
When coming home from school, an old woman
who lives in the neighbor is taking a nap
between the boards
that continue from the entrance.
One evening,
one owl broke the window of the sash
and jumped into the house.
One day,
when I entered the kotatsu in the living room,
I stopped my eyes with the rats in the corridor.
Also "plop."
Unexpectedly, it may be the sound that
a snake rolled down a stairway to the beat
that swallowed a rampant mouse.
