喫茶店のテーブルで話し合っていた。
一癖も二癖もあるような男女のグループ。
それぞれの目の前には本が置かれてある。
読書家の同好会であろうか。
僕を残して数人が席を立ち
すぐ横のコの字型のカウンターに並ぶ。
それぞれ本をカウンターに並べるように置き
その番人でもあるかのように場所を占める。
すると、ここは書店だったか。
いや、むしろ図書館と考えるべきだろう。
遅ればせながら僕も真似て並ぶ。
そのうちのひとり、和服姿の婦人は足が悪いのか
カウンターに本を置いたまま席に戻って座る。
彼女、やや太っていて高齢な感じもある。
どうやら手続きの段になると列に戻るようだ。
人の列が進み、カウンターの上の本の列も進む。
事の善悪もはっきりわからないまま。
自作自演。
A Reader Group
We were talking at the coffee shop table.
A group of men and women
who seem to have a strong habit.
There is a book in front of each of them.
Is it a club of readers?
A few people left me and lined up
at the U-shaped counter next to me.
Place each book side by side on the counter
and they occupy space
as if they were their guardians.
Then, was this a bookstore?
No, it should be considered a library.
I also imitated them and lined up late.
One of them, a woman in a kimono,
has a bad leg, and she returns to her seat
with a book on the counter.
She feels a little fat and old.
She seems to be back in line
when it comes to the procedure.
The line of people goes on,
and so does the line of books on the counter.
I didn't know the good or bad of things.
