僕たちはプロではないが、野球チームらしくて
他のチームとの親善試合を終え、記者会見を開いている。
だが、カメラを抱えた記者の姿はなく、立ったまま
細長い弧を描いているだけなので、そのマネゴトか。
黒人の招待選手の話題となり、彼が前に一歩出て
三振させられたエピソードを悔しそうに語る。
それで次の打順の僕は気が楽になり
そのためにヒットを打てた話なども添える。
「それより、もっと面白い話があったじゃないの」
ある女性からそのように振られ、僕は思い出す。
陸上競技でちゃらんぽらんに走っていたら、途中
わけあって本気で走る羽目に陥り、凄い記録を作ったのだ。
「いいじゃないですか。僕は陸上選手じゃないのだから」
などと照れながら謙遜しようとしている。
ともかく、なんとなく晴れがましい気分。

Elongated Press Conference
We are not professionals, but like a baseball team,
