この物語の主人公はクレーン車。
いわゆる重機、はたらくくるまのお話である。
昔、そいつはケンカばかりしていた。
やたら腕っぷしが強いのだからしかたない。
ある日、ケンカで電信柱をなぎ倒したら
重機の神様とも呼べる巨大トラックに怒られた。
「バカヤロー！」
工事現場からはずされてしまった。
それで今は一般道路の交差点にいる。
あの危険な腕の先から薄いパネルを吊り下げ
信号機代わりに遮断機みたいなことをやっている。
一時は退職も考えたが、なにせガタイがでかいので
のんびり隠居していられる居場所もない。
（ともかく、ケンカはいかんな）
今さらながら、クレーン車は思うのだった。
