教師とおぼしき人物とすれ違い、目礼する。

給食の配膳係のような服装の生徒たちが
通路の要所要所にたたずんでいる。

新学期が始まって早々だろうか。
なにやらイベントかセレモニーが行われるらしい。
階段の途中にも大勢の人たちが待機している。

よほど偉い人が招待されているらしい。
すべて目礼で済ませてしまったが
ちゃんと挨拶せず、失礼だったかもしれない。
教室みたいな部屋で仲間たちと合流。
なにが行われるのか確認しようとするが
今さらな気がして、どうも尋ねにくい。
それから何事かあり、話の流れから
知人らしき男と一緒に帰ることになった。
それもクルマに乗って。
しかも自分の運転で。
クルマの運転に自信はない。免許もない。
しかし、すでに発進している。
狭い山道みたいな道路を不安定に走行する。
あやうくガードレールにぶつかりそうになる。
止まらない。ハンドルを切る。
クルマが半回転する。
