組織の女と組んで一芝居打ち
ターゲットの人物を印象操作するのだ。
まず彼女がターゲットに出会って保険証を落とす。
それを通りがかりの私が拾い、彼女へ手渡す。
これにより、ある効果が得られるという。
構想の全体像はつかめない。
所詮、私は組織の歯車の一つに過ぎないのだ。
彼女とターゲットはレストランに入った。
少し遅れて私も入店。
「先ほど、これを落としましたよ」
保険証を彼女に手渡す。
「あら、どうも」
彼女は微笑み、素っ気なく受け取る。
任務を済ませ、腹が減っていることに気づく。
奥へ進んで、食事にしよう。
昔の会社の同僚や上司が会食を終えたところ。
皿の上にハンバーグが残っている。
「とにかく何か料理を持ってきてくれ」
店員に頼む。
そこへ兄がやってきて文句を言う。
「なぜ昨日は家で食べなかったんだ」
こっちの勝手だろ、という気分。
「変な時間に食べて、眠くなったから寝たんだ」
兄は怒り、殴りそうな気配。
「なんだと」
私も腹が立ち、箸を逆手に持つ。
殴るなら箸の先で突き刺す気構え。
殴るに殴れず、怒りに震える兄の顔。
「やるならやってみろ」
こっちは本気で突き刺すつもりだった。

Mission Complete
There is a certain mission.
