我が部署に新人が配属されてきた。
大変に優秀な人材である。
しかも、まだ中学生だという。
まったく大したものである。
若くして一人前と認められたわけだ。
そんな優秀な新人、どう扱えばいいのか。
わからないので、とりあえず
取り組み中の作業を手伝ってもらう。
資料を調べるのである。
大量の書類の中から、ある情報を探し出す。
彼は素直に調査を始める。
驚くべきスピードと正確さである。
しかし、成果は上がらない。
見つかる可能性は極めて低い。
無駄な努力に終わる気配が濃厚である。
これほどまでに優秀な才能を
こんな単純作業に従事させるべきか。
「もうそれで終わりにしなさい」
遅ればせながら指示を出す。
彼には、やるべきことではなく
やりたいことをさせてあげたいと思う。
いやむしろ、やりたいことをやって欲しい。
やりたくないならやりたくないと主張して欲しい。
かつまた、それを実行する人になって欲しい。
