その先は生徒たちへ向けられている。
教師の男が私の名を呼ぶ。

さて、困ったことになった。
質問の意味はわかるが、真意がわからない。
とりあえず推測できる範囲の内容を話そう。
「当時の兵隊は小銃を持っていたと思うのですが」
教師は黒板の文字をチョークで叩いて示す。

おそらく九連発銃を意味するのだろう。
「それを撃つ場合、いちいち許可を求めていては」
決して地雷を踏んではいけない。
そう思いつつ、おぼつかない返答を続ける。
戦車の砲身がこちらを向いている。
