少年は崖っぷちに腰かけていた。
その背後には
平原が果てしなく広がっている。
奈落の底を見下ろせば
目眩する高さ、吐き気する深さ。
上昇気流に逆らい、吸い込まれそうな
えぐれているようにさえ見える断崖絶壁。
どれほどの時が過ぎたろうか。
不意に少年は立ち上がる。
少年は確信できたのだ。
（僕は臆病者なんかじゃない！）
崖っぷちに背を向け
少年は広大な平原を振り返る。
そして、少年は歩き始める。
ところが、すぐに足が止まった。
少年は立ち尽くしてしまう。
あまりにも長かった崖っぷちでの時間。
断崖の深さと平原の広さを
もう少年は区別できなくなっていたのだ。

At the End of the Cliff
The boy was sitting at the end of the cliff.
Beyond that the plains are endlessly spreading.
If you look down at the bottom of a palace
it is dizzying height, nauseating depth.
The cliff wall that looks like gouged,
which is going to be sucked
in against the ascending air current.
How much time has passed?
Unexpectedly the boy stands up.
The boy was convinced.
(I am not a coward!)
Turning away from the end of the cliff,
the boy looks back on the vast plain.
And the boy starts walking.
However, his leg stopped at once.
The boy stood up.
It was too long at the end of the cliff.
The boy was no longer able to distinguish
the depth of the cliff and the size of the plain.
